hello! finally i get the time to come online. haha! well, i realised that hardly anyone is anyway... perhaps the time. well, i'll write one short one today. =) just to ensure my blog don't die. today went for flagday n missed english! wahaha! yughan envy me!!! xD went wif rachel, soon hao,changtat and wyn tay... we went over to Bedok interchange to get donations cuz pp would be FULL wif ppl. Ate breakfast at macs and the TWO guys had their share in gossiping about OLD NEWS! xD THEN, we started. =) had some slight discouragement when people would just ignore us and walk right past, as if we weren't even there... haiz... BUT, after some warming up... got used to it and had fun. =) By the end of the day, i manage to fill up the tin till.... 9/10 filled? it was very heavy! hand ache!... i also got to make some observations on the people in bedok interchange's reaction to tin cans =P... AND i got to know some very friendly ppl. lol... OH YES... and the best of all. i found a whole new reason for getting people to donate. =) so.. SOME WAYS PEOPLE REACT TO DONATION CANS - "quick stare at the floor!!" - quickly whip out their handphones and pretend to be busy - literally talk to the handphones "hellooooo?" when there's obviously no line -quicken steps and speed past you (pretending to be in a rush) - smile and reject - pat pockets and say no change - stare blankly at you 'HUH?" - keep walking forward while pretending to care - acting blind or deaf and walk straight past you - scrowl at you for disturbing the un-disturbered. and of course there are the people who -smile, stop and fish out change -dropping in coins while walking, not even glancing at you -let their children donate and get a sticker -donate and praise you for your hard work (a pleasure to hear your hard work is really appreciated) -donate and strike a conversation with you -flirt before donating (school boyS) -approach you and donate <3 (the kindest people in the world) AND then i also mastered the skill of getting people to donate -stand right in front of them, hence forcing them to stop -following their pace (walking backwards with them) -SMILE and be friendly -make eye contact from a distance so e person knows you've spotted HIM/HER. wahaha, no way out xD SOME TIPS -thank sincerely -keep smiling -always approach and don't just stand there waiting 4 ppl to come to you -get immune to rejection and being ignored -let the question linger for a while... (they need to consider it before whipping out their wallets) -ask around places with people waiting around, allow them to observe you asking... they WILL come up to u sooner or later =) -hand around places where people have to wait n are free (lining up or waiting 4 bus) -aim for the elderly xD (very generous ppl) -aim for uncles! -aim for school guys in a group (if one donates, the rest WILL) -go bus stop where people have nothing better to do -people who keep glances at you a few times at a corner= i would donate IF you come to me THE ANTI-DONATORS -people who sees you and look away, 0 outta 10 donates -people who looks upset (never tried) -young couples, 1 outta 10 donates -young ladies 3 outta 10 donates -people rushing 2 outta 10 donates -people with hands full of items 2 outta 10 donates yup... and i enjoyed asking uncles and group of school guys. xD always have funny comments to offer xD k, i'm done. =) |
